Charles Elms and Nicolas Bauer launched Free Run Wines in 2001. Their vision was to create a wine business with a difference, offering excellent quality wines at the best possible price.
With extensive experience of working in the UK drinks industry, Charles and Nick have successfully developed the business in a competitive market.
Today Free Run Wines is well established as a supplier of quality wines from around the world, working in partnership with 11 different wineries. We have a wide customer base that includes the UK and Ireland’s leading supermarkets, as well as wholesalers, high street and specialist retailers.
With more than 20 years experience of working in the UK drinks industry, Charles and Nick co-founded Free Run Wines in 2001. Charles heads up the Free Run team, overseeing a range of key accounts, as well as focusing on commercial strategy and planning. Looking at this photo, you may think that Charles has a penchant for unusual leisurewear – this may be true – but he promises us he only wears this outfit whilst smoking his beehives.
A true Frenchman born and bred, Nick has spent the last 15 years working in the UK drinks industry, so he’s now well versed in the strange ways of “Les Anglais”. Heading up the company with Charles, Nick manages a number of key accounts as well as developing new projects and business. Leaving the rest of us feeling exhausted, Nick is often found either cycling or diving.
Sales & Marketing Executive
Justin looks after a bit of everything, including Product Development, Publicity & Marketing, Product Technical Information and the Quality System & Manual (BRC accreditation).
The wine bug started early on for Justin when an aunt and uncle paid him in fine wine to babysit his younger cousins. He also enjoys a decent beer, and when it all gets too much he can be relied upon to mix a mean Gin & Tonic.
Accounts & Sales Administrator
Emma has an interesting work background, having studied sound engineering at university, she worked in a variety of roles at Peter Gabriel’s “Real World Studios” for nearly 10 years, before moving on to customer service/sales roles within the utilities and equestrian industries as well as taking up a voluntary commissioned role with the Air Training Corps. Emma is currently studying for her AAT Level 4 Accountancy Diploma, and is a keen cake maker, as well as claiming to visit the gym occasionally. She only supplied her photo under duress, and only then if she was allowed to have a slightly out of date one!
Judiciously deciding to move to a part-time role in Accounts, Jackie had tirelessly organised us for over 6 years, managing our accounts and making sure orders got processed and invoices paid. Jackie claims to have known very little about wine “apart from the fact I like drinking it” before joining the Free Run team, though we find that hard to believe – and some might say she’s the hardest critic to impress when it comes to new vintages. With plenty of free time away from the office, Jackie is most likely to be found on the back of a motorbike.
